Common questions

Does Rowpath upload my files?

No. Rowpath is designed to process files locally on your Mac. Your data does not need to be uploaded to the cloud to use the app.

What file types does Rowpath support?

Rowpath supports common structured formats including CSV, TSV, TXT, Excel, JSON, NDJSON, Markdown tables, HTML tables, Parquet, and other supported export formats.

Can Rowpath handle large files?

Yes. Rowpath is designed for large structured files and uses optimized local backing storage, caching, and Working Views to keep exploration responsive.

What is a Working View?

A Working View is the current version of your dataset after filters, searches, sorts, edits, calculated columns, duplicate cleanup, and other row-preserving steps. You can use it to explore data, create derived results, export clean outputs, or save repeatable workflows.

What is the difference between a Working View and a Derived Result?

A Working View keeps the same basic dataset identity while changing how you work with it. A Derived Result creates a new dataset, such as a join, aggregate, pivot, comparison, or shape-changing SQL result.

Can I save workflows?

Rowpath can turn repeatable cleanup and export steps into workflows so you can run them again on future files.

Does Rowpath replace Excel?

No. Rowpath is not trying to be a full spreadsheet replacement. It is designed for structured-file inspection, cleanup, SQL analysis, validation, workflows, and exports.
